Inspector Notes

A monitoring inspection was conducted on 3/14/2023 with the center staff. Staff files were sent electronically 3/15/2023. There were 75 children present, ranging in ages from 5 years to 12 years, with 6 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 7 child records and 3 staff records were reviewed. The children were playing outside, practicing volleyball in the gym, creating games in the STEM lab, and doing homework.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard 8VAC20-780-260-A
Based on review of reports and staff interview, the facility failed to have an annual fire inspection report from the appropriate fire official having jurisdiction. Evidence: the last documented fire inspection was conducted 10/21/2021.
Plan of Correction: Center director will check with school officials to see if an updated fire inspection is available.
Standard 8VAC20-780-60-A
Based on review of seven children's files, the facility failed to have all information in each child's file. Children with diagnosed food allergies should have a written care plan to include instructions from a physician regarding the food to which the child is allergic and the steps to be taken in the event of a suspected or confirmed allergic reaction. Evidence: five children are listed as having diagnosed food allergies, but did not have an allergy action plan on file.
Plan of Correction: Allergy action plans will be obtained from the school office, if available. If not, parents will be asked to get them from the physician.
