Inspector Notes

An unannounced complaint inspection was initiated and completed on 7/3/2024 in the area of ratio?s due to a call received on 6/10/2024. The inspector was on site from 8:40am until 9:40am.

There were 112 children, ages 3 months to 6 years old under the supervision of nineteen staff. Children were observed during indoor free play, outdoor play and breakfast time. No records were reviewed.

As the information gathered during the investigation does not support the allegations, the complaint is determined to be ?NOT VALID.?
Violations have been cited unrelated to the complaint allegations. Violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard 8VAC20-780-270-A
Based on observation, the center failed to ensure areas and equipment of the center, inside and outside, shall be maintained in a clean, safe and operable condition.

Evidence:
On the outdoor playground, the door knob was missing from the door leading into the building. This created a hole in the metal where the knob would be.
Plan of Correction: The remaining pieces connected to the door were taken off.

Based on observation, the center failed to ensure children?s hands shall be washed with soap and running water or disposable wipes before and after eating meals or snacks.

Evidence:
Children were observed coming in from the playground to have breakfast. There was no handwashing for the children before they ate.
Plan of Correction: Procedures for handwashing were reviewed with staff on 7/3/2024.
