Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 08/25/2022. There were 21 children, ages 5 months-2years, and 5 staff members present during the inspection. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, staff qualifications and trainings, staffing and supervision, physical plant, programs, emergencies and nutrition. The children were observed during diapering, handwashing, lunch, story time and naptime; infants were observed being fed and sleeping on demand. A total of 5 children?s records and 5 staff records were reviewed. The inspector arrived for the inspection at 10:20 am and departed at 11:45 am. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the provider.

Based on record review, the center failed to obtain documentation of a negative tuberculosis screening that shall have been completed within the last 30 calendar days of the date of employment.

Evidence: The record for Staff 4 contained a documented hire date of 08/01/2022. The date on the tuberculosis screening was 07/26/2021. The tuberculosis screening had not been completed within the last 30 calendar days.
Plan of Correction: Will get a new one.
Standard 8VAC20-780-560-M
Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that no child shall be allowed to drink or eat while walking around.

Evidence: Child 6 was observed walking around after lunch while eating a piece of cheese.
Plan of Correction: Will be more aware after lunch and will make sure the children sit while eating.
