Inspector Notes

An unannounced, on-site renewal inspection was initiated and completed on 11/7/2024. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas listed above. There were 8 children present and 2 staff. The inspector reviewed 5 children?s records and 4 staff records. This inspection included document review, a tour of the facility, interviews and observations.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard 8VAC20-780-240-A
Staff shall complete the Virginia Department of Education-sponsored orientation course within 90 calendar days of employment.

Staff #2 (date of hire: 3/14/2024) has not completed the Virginia Department of Education-sponsored orientation course.
Plan of Correction: We will ask [them] to get it done within a month.
Standard 8VAC20-780-240-B
There shall be documentation of staff completing orientation training prior to working alone with children and no later than seven days of the date of assuming job responsibilities.

Staff #2 (date of hire: 3/14/2024) record does not contain documentation of receiving orientation training.
Plan of Correction: It was done but we don't have the documentation. We will have [them] fill out the form tomorrow.

Hazardous substances such as cleaning materials, insecticides, and pesticides shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.

Cleaning materials were observed in a cabinet in the children's bathroom. The lock on the cabinet was broken.
Plan of Correction: Lock replaced during the inspection.

Staff records shall contain all required information.

The record for staff #2 did not contain documentation of two references.
Plan of Correction: We will ask for the reference contacts and get it done this week.
