The operational responsibilities of the licensee shall include ensuring that the center?s activities, services, and facilities are maintained in compliance with these standards the center?s own policies and procedures that are required by these standards, and the terms of the current license issued by the department.
The center?s discipline policy states ?at no time will any staff member or volunteer of MLC use any form of corporal punishment, including but not limited to shaking, spanking, slapping, pinching, pushing, humiliating, threatening, biting, or hair pulling.?
On February 24, 2025, staff #1 did not follow the center?s discipline policy that prohibits slapping. Child #1 (age 2 years) was slapped on the hand, when the child went to reach for something the teacher didn?t want the child to have.

The following acts are forbidden: physical punishment and striking a child. On February 24, 2025, staff #1 slapped child #1 (age 2 years) on the hand.
Plan of Correction: Staff has received additional instruction concerning 8VAC20-780-410 Forbidden Actions, in licensing standards. Staff will continue to receive ongoing training in Positive Guidance and Discipline.
