Inspector Notes

A renewal inspection was conducted today between 9:00am and 10:30am. There were 8 children present with 2 caregivers supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. The children were observed engaging with the caregiver and playing. A total of 2 child records and 4 caregiver records were reviewed. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Standard 8VAC20-800-210-A
Based on review of caregiver records, caregivers did not obtain a minimum of sixteen clock hours of training annually in areas relevant to their job responsibilities.
Evidence
Caregiver #1 and #2 only have 3 hours of training.
Plan of Correction: .We both are in the process of completing our required training. It will be completed before my license expires in December.
Standard 8VAC20-800-320-G
Based on review of documentation, the fireplace and associated chimney was not inspected annually to verify that the devices are properly installed, maintained and cleaned.
Evidence
The family day home does not have documentation of an inspection and cleaning of the fireplace and associated chimney.
Plan of Correction: The inspection should have been done last week, but the inspector cancelled. It has been rescheduled for October 27, 2023
Standard 8VAC20-800-960-E
Based on observation, bottles were not refrigerated and labeled with the child's full name and the date.
Evidence
There were three bottles not refrigerated, and labeled with the child's full name and the date.
Plan of Correction: We will make sure all bottles are labeled with the child's full name and current date.
