Inspector Notes

An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on 9/7/2023 from 2:26 pm to 3:07 pm. There were 11 children in care, ages six years to ten years, in one group under the care of two staff. The Licensing Inspector reviewed three children?s records, and other program records. The children were observed doing homework and playing in the cafeteria. Three staff records were checked at the main office on 9/18/2023.
This inspection was amended to remove a violation that was erroneously cited.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard 8VAC20-780-240-B
Based on observation and record review, the center failed to ensure a new staff person completed orientation training in subsection C of this standard prior to working alone with children and no later than seven days of the date of assuming job responsibilities.

EVIDENCE:
Staff 2 has a documented employment date of 8/14/2023 and was observed working alone with children at times during the inspection. The staff record for Staff 2 has no documentation to show that new staff orientation as required by this standard had been done.
