Inspector Notes

A monitoring inspection was initiated on 11/8/2023 and concluded on 11/8/2023. There were 24 children present with six staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of five child records and seven staff records were reviewed. The inspection started at 10:15 am and concluded at 12:40 pm.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard 8VAC20-780-500-A
Based on observation the center failed to ensure that staff wash their hands with soap and running water before and after a diaper change.
Evidence:
Staff #2 changed a child's diaper and did not wash hands after taking off the gloves used during the diaper change.
Plan of Correction: The staff will be reminded of the proper way to change diapers and wash hands.

Based on review the center failed to ensure that one working, battery-operated radio in each building used by the children.
Evidence:
The center did not have batteries for the radio.
Plan of Correction: The director purchased batteries and will ensure that they will always be accessible.
