Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on November 15th, 2022. There were 65 children present with 15 staff supervising. The physical plant, children's records, staff records, evacuation logs, attendance logs, first aid kits, medication and medication authorizations, bottles, cribs and menu's were reviewed. Due to the weather the playground was not reviewed. The children were observed playing with floor toys, working with Play-Dough and practicing for the holiday program. Standard 8VAC20-780-280-B
Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that hazardous substances such as cleaning materials shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.

Evidence:
Cleaning chemicals were located an unlocked closet in the kitchen.
Clorox wipes were located on the kitchen floor in an unlocked kitchen.
Dish detergent was on an accessible counted in the Toddler classroomm
Plan of Correction: We will put Clorox Wipes in the closet in the kitchen and then lock the closet door.

Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that bottle fed infants who cannot hold their own bottles shall be held when fed.

Evidence:
In the Infant classroom, an infant was not held during bottle feeding.
Plan of Correction: We will remind teachers that bottle fed infants that cannot hold their own bottles, will be held when fed.

Based on observation, the center failed to post a notice, prominently displayed next to the license, that states a description of specific violations of licensing standards to be corrected and the deadline for completion of such corrections and the notice is available fore inspection at the facility or on the facilities website.
