Inspector Notes

A monitoring inspection was conducted on 10/07/2022. There were a total of 72 children with 20 staff members present. Children were observed during art activities, napping, playing with balls, transitioning inside and outside, and diapering procedures. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 5 child records and 6 staff records were reviewed. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Standard 8VAC20-780-270-A
Based on observation, equipment inside the center, was not maintained in a safe condition.
Evidence:
In the Early Preschool 1 classroom there was a broken step on trashcan.
Plan of Correction: Removed trashcan from classroom on day of inspection.
Standard 8VAC20-780-280-B
Based on observation, hazardous substances such as cleaning materials, were not kept in a locked place.
Evidence:
In the K Prep classroom sanitizer and disinfectant were in an unlocked upper cabinet above the cots. In the Early Preschool 3 classroom disinfectant bleach and sanitizing bleach were unlocked in an upper cabinet above the refrigerator.
Plan of Correction: Cabinet was made secure with replacement lock on day of inspection. Purchased additional locks for future immediate replacement.
Standard 8VAC20-780-450-A
Based on observation, cribs being used by infants did not have only a bottom cover.
Evidence:
One crib had a sleep sack off of the baby inside the crib. The baby was observed holding the sleep sack.
Plan of Correction: Retrained staff on infant safe sleep policies and procedures.
