An unannounced, on-site renewal inspection was initiated and completed on August 8, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas listed above. There were 92 children present and 17 staff. The inspector reviewed 9 children?s records and 9 staff records on-site. This inspection included document review, tour of the facility, interviews, and observations.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard 22.1-289.035-B-2
Documentation of a fingerprint based national criminal check shall be obtained for each staff prior to employment. Staff 1 (date of employment 12/29/2022) did not have a fingerprint result on file until 1/11/2023. Staff 9 (date of employment 1/25/2024) did not have a fingerprint result on file until 2/15/2024.
Plan of Correction: Staff will not hire staff until fingerprint results are received.
Standard 8VAC20-780-240-A
Staff shall complete the Virginia Department of Education-sponsored orientation course (VA Pre-service) within 90 days of employment. Staff 6 did not have documentation of having completed the VA Dept of Education sponsored orientation course and has been employed for over two years.
Plan of Correction: Staff 6 has completed VA Preservice, but has not provided the certificate to management.

Orientation must be documented for each staff prior to working alone with children. Staff 9 did not have documentation of completed orientation on file.
Plan of Correction: Staff had orientation, but the form was not completely filled out.
