Inspector Notes

An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today from 12:00pm-1:00pm. There were 5 children (13 points) directly supervised by the provider. The home, 1 staff record, 5 children?s records, 4 household member?s records, evacuation drills, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. There were no medications on site today. Children were observed playing freely and finishing lunch. Diapering procedures were also observed. There was an adequate supply of books, toys, and materials for the children. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Based on observation, a pressure mounted gate is being used as protective barrier at a stair opening.

Evidence:
An uninstalled pressure mounted gate is being used as protective barrier for the outside deck steps.
Plan of Correction: We have ordered a new gate, meanwhile we have fixed the old one. The new gate will be fixed next week.

Based on interview and documentation review, the family day home did not keep a written record of children in attendance.

Evidence:
The attendance sheet showed that attendance was last recorded on 1/24/2023
Plan of Correction: We have started to record regular attendance now.
Standard 8VAC20-800-60-B
Based on record review, children's records did not all contain required information.

Evidence:
Child #5's record does not contain the house number and street name for one emergency contact.
Plan of Correction: I have recorded all related information and will comply it in future.
