Inspector Notes

A monitoring inspection was initiated and concluded on 10/25/2023.There were 53 children present with 9 staff supervising and 2 administrators. The children were observed during outside play time, teacher led classroom activities, and during lunch time. A total of 5 child records and 5 staff records were reviewed. The inspection started at 11 am and concluded at 12:45 pm.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Based on observation and staff interview the center did not ensure that each building that houses a child day program that is licensed, that serves preschool-age children, shall be equipped with at least one carbon monoxide detector.

Evidence: The director confirmed there was no carbon monoxide detector.

Based on record review and staff interview the center did not ensure that the Virginia Department of Education-sponsored orientation course shall be completed within 90 calendar days of employment.

Evidence: The director confirmed that staff #2 (date of hire 7/5/2022) did not have documentation of completing the DOE sponsored training.
