Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted at 10:15am. Observed 7children totaling 17 points with 1 caregiver. Ratios were not in compliance today. Children were observed playing with toys, washing hands, eating lunch and watching a child-appropriate show on TV. The caregiver said that children had been outside playing in the backyard earlier in the morning. The caregiver was busy tending to the needs of the children, especially those that were crying. The daycare areas of the home were found to be clean and well supplied with toys and equipment for the children. Areas of non-compliance with standards and laws reviewed were found. Violations

2
Standard 8VAC20-800-570-A
Based on observations made, child-to-staff ratios were not maintained and the caregiver exceeded the allowed 16 points. Evidence: There was 1 caregiver caring for 7 children totaling 17 points.
Plan of Correction: Not available online. Contact Inspector for more information.
Standard 8VAC20-800-60-A
Based on records reviewed, 2 of 7 children present did not have an up-to-date record of enrollment with required information.

Evidence:

1. Child #13 - The child reportedly began attending today (4/17/24) and the parent has the enrollment paperwork to complete and return. The only required documentation on-file was a record of immunizations.
2. Child #14 - The child reportedly began attending today and will only be in care today, as the child has a regular caregiver.
Plan of Correction: The provider said the parent of Child #13 has the enrollment paperwork to complete and will be turning it in. The only documentation on-file were the child's immunizations.

The provider said Child #14 was only in care for one day (today).

In the future, children will not be in care if the required paperwork is not completed and turned in to the provider.
