Inspector Notes

A renewal inspection to monitor the requirements for Religiously Exempt Child Day Centers was conducted on July 18, 2022 from 11:35am to approximately 1:00pm. At the time of arrival there were eight children in care and four staff members. The records sample size consisted of five children?s records and five staff records. Classroom observations were made and children were observed during free play, activity, and lunch. Posted information and first aid kits were observed and the center director was interviewed regarding center policies and procedures. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and a violation was documented on the violation notice issued to the program. The violation is listed on the violation notice issued to the center and were reviewed with the site director at the exit interview.

Based on record review and interview, it was determined that the center did not obtain the child abuse and neglect (CPS) check for staff in the appropriate timeframe of employment.
Evidence:
1. Staff #1 (date of hire: 04/04/2022) does not have the required central registry checks completed for the State of Virginia.
Staff #2 (date of hire: 04/04/22) does not have the required central registry checks completed for the State of Virginia.
Plan of Correction: The center responded with the following: The center will complete the required central registry checks for Staff #1 and Staff #2.
