Inspector Notes

An unannounced, on-site renewal inspection was conducted on 1/15/25 from 10:30am to 12:25pm. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas listed above. There were 76 children present and 16 staff. The inspector reviewed 4 children?s records and 5 staff records on-site.
This inspection included document review, tour of the facility, interviews, and observations.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard 8VAC20-780-40-E
The operational responsibilities of the licensee shall include ensuring that the center's activities, services, and facilities are maintained in compliance with these standards, the center's own policies and procedures that are required by these standards, and the terms of the current license issued by the department.
The center's medication policy states that "Unused or expired medication will be returned to the parent/guardian when it is no longer needed or be able to be used by the child".
Child # 1's emergency medication expired in November 2024, and had not yet been returned to the parents.
Child # 2' emergency medication expired in December 2024, and had not yet been returned to the parents.
Plan of Correction: A system will be put in place to ensure that expired medications are promptly returned to the parents.

Documentation shall be maintained of emergency evacuation drills.
There was no written documentation for an evacuation drill conducted in December 2024.
Plan of Correction: The drill was completed but not recorded in the drill log.
