Inspector Notes

Inspection Summary
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews and a virtual tour of the program.
A monitoring inspection was initiated and concluded on September 8th, 2021. The director was contacted by telephone and a virtual inspection was conducted. There were 39 children present, ranging in ages from 2 years to 5 years, with 6 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 3 child records and 3 staff records were reviewed.

Standard 22VAC40-185-210-A
Based on a review of staff records, the licensee failed to ensure that all staff possessed all the of the required qualifications for a program leader.

Evidence:
Staff Member #1's records did not have verification of document of education and/or training to qualify as a program leader.
Staff Member #3's records did not have verification documentation of education and/or training to qualify as a program leader.
Plan of Correction: I will get the documentation of qualifications from all staff members.
Standard 22VAC40-185-240-A
Based on a review of staff records, the licensee failed to ensure that all staff received required training by the end of their first day of assuming job responsibilities.

Evidence:
Staff #2's record has a date of hire as 01/29/2021 but did not have documentation of Recognizing child abuse and neglect and the legal requirements for reporting suspected child abuse as required by the Code of Virginia until 03/14/2021.
Plan of Correction: I will ensure that all staff have required training before their first day of assuming job responsibilities.
