During the inspection, the inspector reviewed the areas listed above, to include standards found out of compliance during the previous inspection. Unless otherwise noted as a violation within this inspection report, the provider was in compliance with the standards reviewed. If there were any serious injuries or fatalities related to a violation, the details will be included in the description of the violation.

Inspector Notes

An unannounced, on-site renewal inspection was initiated on 1/13/25 and completed on 1/13/25. The on-site inspection began at 10:45am and ended at 12:30pm. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas listed above. There were 9 children present and 2 staff. The inspector reviewed 5 children's records and 2 staff records on-site. This inspection included document review, a tour of the facility, interviews and observations. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard 8VAC20-780-160-C
A tuberculosis (TB) screening is required every two years from the last screening.

Staff 1's updated screening was due 2 months ago. The updated screening has not yet been completed.
Plan of Correction: The center responded with the following: Staff 1 will obtain the updated TB screening by this weekend.
Standard 8VAC20-780-270-A
The center shall ensure that areas and equipment of the center, inside and outside, are maintained in a safe condition.

On the playground, the wooden lattice covering the air conditioning unit has areas that are broken and splintered with exposed nails and screws. The metal netting under the wooden lattice is also exposed, with areas of rust and sharp edges.
Plan of Correction: The center responded with the following: The program director will contact the owner of the center to have the cover on the AC unit repaired. Staff will ensure close supervision of the children when on the playground until repairs are made.
Standard 8VAC20-780-510-L
Medication shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.

There was one prescription medication for a child in care that was stored in an unlocked drawer in the classroom.
Plan of Correction: The center responded with the following: The medication was moved to a lockbox during the inspection. Center staff will ensure all medication is kept in a locked area at all times.
