Standard 8VAC20-780-510-P
Based on a review of the medication being stored at the center, it was determined that the licensee did not ensure that when an authorization expires, the parent shall be notified that the medication needs to be picked up within 14 days or the parent must renew the authorization.

Evidence:
1. The medication authorization for child #7 was expired, but the medication was still at the center.
2. The medication authorization for child #8 was expired, but the medication was still at the center.
3, Staff #6 confirmed that the medication for child #7 and child #8 had been present in the center for more than 14 days since the expiration of the written authorization.
Plan of Correction: The facility responded: The medication will be returned to the parent. We will ensure that when any medication authorization expires we return the medication to the parent within the required time frame.
