Inspector Notes

A monitoring/renewal inspection was conducted on 8/15/2023. There were 97 children directly supervised by 18 staff members. Children were observed engaged in group activities, manipulatives and art project. The physical plant, playground, 5 child records, 4 staff records, medications, evacuation drills, and emergency supplies were inspected. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Standard 8VAC20-780-510-I
Based on a review of children medications, a child's medication does not have the prescription label to include the prescribers instructions pertaining to dosage, frequency and manner of administration.
Evidence: Child # 5 has an Epi pen medication on file, the medication does not have a prescription label to include the prescribers instructions pertaining to dosage, frequency and manner of administration
Plan of Correction: The parent will obtain the prescription label for the medication.
Standard 8VAC20-780-520-B
Based on observation, sunscreen is not kept inaccessible to children under 5 years of age.
Evidence: Sunscreen was observed in the Two's classroom accessible to children on the shelf next to the changing table.
Plan of Correction: The sunscreen will be placed out of the reach of children.
Standard 8VAC20-780-60-A-8
Based on a review of children records and medication, there is no written care plan for each child's diagnosed food allergy.
Evidence: Child # 1 has medication for a nut allergy, there is no documentation of a written allergy care plan.
Plan of Correction: The parent will provide the center with an allergy action plan.
