Inspector Notes

An unannounced non-mandated inspection was conducted on 04/16/2024 from 10:50 a.m. to 1:20 p.m. regarding a self report that was received on 04/30/2024 regarding staffing and supervision and programs.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard 8VAC20-780-400-B
Based on review of documentation and interview, the center failed to ensure that behavioral guidance is constructive in nature, age and stage appropriate, and is intended to redirect children to appropriate behavior and resolve conflict.
Evidence:
1. Documentation provided by the center stated that Staff #1 report to Staff #2 that Child #1 was having a ?negative behavior? and Staff #3 motioned that she was going to ?backhand him in the face? and stated, ?I could just smack you?.
2. Documentation provided by the center stated that Staff # 4 had witness on a different day Staff #2 pretending to hit a different child and ?she was holding his hands and he was trying to get away?
Plan of Correction: Staff person in these reports has resigned. Additional training will be provided for all staff and continued monitoring will occur.
