During the inspection, the inspector reviewed the areas listed above to include standards found out of compliance during the previous inspection. Unless otherwise noted as a violation within this inspection report, the provider was in compliance with the standards reviewed. If there were any serious injuries or fatalities related to a violation, the details will be included in the description of the violation.

Inspector Notes

An unannounced, on-site renewal inspection was conducted on February 21, 2025. The on-site inspection began at 11:00 a.m. and ended at 1:00 p.m. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas listed above. There were 40 children present and 12 staff. The inspector reviewed 5 children?s records and 5 staff records on-site. This inspection included document review, tour of the facility, interviews, and observations.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard 8VAC20-780-280-B
Hazardous substances must be in a locked place that prevents access by children. In the Sunflower classroom, bleach, carpet cleaner, and a sanitizing solution were in an unlocked lower cabinet.
Plan of Correction: Staff will be reminded to lock all hazardous substances.
Standard 8VAC20-780-510-P
When an authorization for medication expires, the facility shall notify parents that that the medication must be picked up within 14 days of the authorization expiring or that a new authorization should be completed. The medication authorizations for two medications for Child A expired three weeks ago. The authorizations had not been renewed and the medications were not returned or destroyed as required. The medication was on site.
Plan of Correction: The parent will be notified that updated medication authorizations are required.
Standard 8VAC20-780-560-J
Tables shall be sanitized before and after each use for feeding. Sanitize is defined as "the surface of the item is sprayed or dipped into the disinfectant solution and allowed to air dry on the surface for a minimum of two minutes or according to the disinfectant solution instructions." The tables were cleaned with a soap and water solution only after the children had lunch.
Plan of Correction: Staff will be reminded to clean and sanitize tables before and after meals.
