Inspector Notes

This annual subsidy inspection was conducted by the inspector using an alternate remote protocol necessary due to a state of emergency declared by the Governor of Virginia in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Preliminary data was obtained from the vendor on 3/23/2021.
An annual subsidy inspection was initiated on 4/1/2021, at which time the vendor was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection, and concluded on 4/1/2021. The inspector emailed the vendor a list of items required to complete the inspection.
The vendor reported there were 11 children in care and 2 caregivers present. The inspector reviewed 2 children?s records and 3 caregiver/household member records submitted by the vendor to ensure compliance with the health and safety regulations.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for
Child Care programs.
The information gathered during the inspection determined areas of non-compliance with applicable regulations or law, and a violation was issued.

Based on record review, the provider did not ensure two of two caregiver records contained documentation showing that the staff completed the Annual Virginia Health and Safety Update Training annually.
Evidence:
1. The record of caregiver #1 had documentation of the Annual Virginia Health and Safety Update Training dated 4/12/2019. Caregivers who work directly with children should complete the departments health and safety update course annually. The provider stated that the they were not aware of the annual requirement.
2. The record of caregiver #2 had documentation of the Annual Virginia Health and Safety Update Training dated 3/19/2019. Caregivers who work directly with children should complete the departments health and safety update course annually. The provider stated that the they were not aware of the annual requirement.
Plan of Correction: We will do the training today.
