Inspector Notes

A monitoring inspection was conducted on 8/28/2023. There were 35 children directly supervised by 11 staff members. Children were observed during snack time, engaged in group activities and bathroom breaks. The physical plant, 4 child records, 5 staff records, medications, evacuation drills, and emergency supplies were inspected. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Standard 8VAC20-780-160-A
Based on a review of staff records, staff have not obtained documentation of a tuberculosis screening within the last 30 calendar days of the date of employment.
Evidence: Staff #2, date of employment 5/5/2023 did not have a tuberculosis screening within 30 days of employment. The TB screening was dated 2/7/2022.
Plan of Correction: The Director will obtain TB screening prior to employment for each new employee.
Standard 8VAC20-780-280-B
Based o observation, hazardous substances such as cleaning materials, insecticides, and pesticides shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.
Evidence: Cleaning supplies were found in the 2's classroom under the sink in an unlocked cabinet. There were children in the classroom this date.
Plan of Correction: The cabinet will be locked today.
Standard 8VAC20-780-60-A-8
Based on a review of children allergies, the center has not obtained a written care plan to include instructions from a physician for each child with a diagnosed food allergy.
Evidence: Child #1 does not have a allergy care plan with physician instructions for the food allergy identified in the child's record. The child has an emergency medication on file for the food allergy.
Plan of Correction: The center will get the written care plan from the physician.
