Inspector Notes

A monitoring inspection was initiated on 6/14/2023 and concluded on 6/14/2023. There were 21 children present with 10 staff supervising and one cook. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of seven staff records were reviewed. The inspection started at 10:30 am and concluded at 12:25 pm.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Based on observation the center failed to ensure that any other documents required by the Superintendent shall be posted in a conspicuous place on the licensed premises.
Evidence:
The most current violation notice dated, March 14 2023 was not posted in a conspicuous place at the center.

Standard 8VAC20-780-280-B
Based on observation the center failed to ensure that Hazardous substances such as cleaning materials, insecticides, and pesticides shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.
Evidence:
The storage closet located in the hallway was unlocked. Inside the closet was bleach, glass cleaner and disinfectant spray. This hallway is used by preschool children going to the bathroom.
Plan of Correction: Corrected during inspection. Director will remind staff to lock this door.
Standard 8VAC20-780-560-L
Based on observation the center failed to ensure that Staff shall sit with children during meal times.
Evidence:
During lunch time the staff stood near the tables and distributed food to the children. One staff would get the cots out for nap time. No staff sat with the children during lunch time.
