Inspector Notes

A monitoring inspection was initiated on 5/8/2024 and concluded on 5/8/2024. There were 19 children present with five staff supervising, owner (PD), administrative staff, cook/floater present. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of five child records and three staff records were reviewed. The inspection started at 9:07 am and concluded at 10:35 am.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard 8VAC20-780-500-B
Based on observation the center failed to ensure that the diapering surface shall be sanitized after each use.
Evidence:
Following a diaper change the staff person did not sanitize the diapering surface.
Plan of Correction: Addressed same date and reviewed at staff meetings.
Standard 8VAC20-780-530-A-1
Based on record reviews the center failed to ensure that all staff have a current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) as appropriate to the age of the children in care from an organization such as the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, American Safety and Health Institute, or National Safety Council. The training shall include an in-person competency demonstration.
Evidence:
Staff #2, has a CPR certificate that expired April, 2024. Staff #3, has a CPR certificate that expired May, 2023.
Plan of Correction: Continue to look for classes for staff #2 & #3 to take

Based on record reviews the center failed to ensure that all staff have current certification in first aid from an organization such as the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, American Safety and Health Institute, or National Safety Council.
Evidence:
Staff #2, has a first aid certificate that expired 4/2024. Staff #3, has a first aid certificate that expired 5/2023.

Based on observation the center failed to ensure that prepared infant formula shall be refrigerated, dated and labeled with the child's name.
Evidence:
The prepared bottle in the refrigerator was not dated or labeled with the child's name.
Plan of Correction: Children's bottles will be labeled and dated daily.
