Inspector Notes

An in-person mandated monitoring inspection was conducted on May 10, 2024 from 10:50am until 11:48pm. There were 74 children present with 8 staff supervising. Children were observed getting ready to go outside, playing outside, playing in centers, and working independently. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 5 child records and 5 staff records were reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Based on record review, the center did not ensure the Virginia Department of Education-sponsored orientation course was completed within 90 calendar days of employment.

Evidence:
The records for Staff #3, date of hire 2/4/23, and Staff #4, date of hire 9/1/23, did not contain documentation of the Virginia Department of Education-sponsored orientation course.
Plan of Correction: The staff will complete the required orientation training.

Based on record review, the center did not ensure child records contained the address of two designated people to call in an emergency if a parent cannot be reached.

Evidence:
The record for child #4 did not contain the address for two emergency contacts.
Plan of Correction: The family will complete the required information today.
