Inspector Notes

A monitoring inspection was conducted on 12/13/2022 with the center director and staff. There were 50 children present, ranging in ages from 6 years to 12 years, with 8 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 7 child records and 4 staff records were reviewed. The children were engaged in art, cooking, gym, journaling, snack, and departing on the bus.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard 8VAC20-780-530-A-1
Based on record review, the facility failed to have one staff in each in each grouping of children with cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Evidence: Staff 2 was alone with eight children, but does not have documentation of current CPR on file.
Plan of Correction: There will be at least one staff certified in CPR in each grouping of children.
Standard 8VAC20-780-530-A-2
Based on staff interview and record review, the facility failed to have one staff in each in each grouping of children with first aid certification. Evidence: Staff 2 was alone with eight children, but does not have documentation of current first aid certification on file.
Plan of Correction: There will be at least one staff current in first aid certification in each grouping of children.
Standard 8VAC20-780-550-H
Based on staff interview, the facility failed to maintain documentation of practice drills for the year. Evidence: the documentation of the practice evacuation, shelter in place, and lockdown drills for this year could not be located during the inspection.
Plan of Correction: Drills will be documented beginning this month.
