Inspector Notes

A subsidy health and safety inspection (SHSI) was conducted in conjunction with the code compliance inspection. Subsidy standards that are not covered in code were reviewed during this SHSI. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

The center is required to keep a current list of all known allergies, sensitivities, and dietary restrictions in each room or area where children are present. A child in the 2's classroom had documentation of a food allergy in the record and there was not an allergy list in the classroom.

Standard 8VAC20-790-730-G
(Repeat violation) Centers shall ensure there is at least 12" of space between occupied cots and mats. Children were observed napping in the preschool classroom and there was approximately 4" - 6" between several cots with sleeping children.

Centers shall have a nonabsorbent surface for diapering or changing children. The diapering pad in the 2's classroom had 3 tears causing the surface to be absorbent.
