Inspector Notes

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.

A non-mandated focused inspection was conducted on 3/24/2021. The provider was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were no children present with the provider. The inspector emailed the provider a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 1 new adult household member's record submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Standard 22VAC40-111-330-A
Based on interview with the provider, it was determined that a landline telephone was not available.

Evidence: A landline telephone was not available at the family day home. The provider stated she does not have a landline telephone.
Plan of Correction: We contacted several provider for the landline. The proposed land line from these providers require power and sim-card which I'll wait your confirmation for a sample we sent via e-mail.
Standard 22VAC40-111-430-A
Based on observation, children under two years of age have access to two sets of stairs.

Evidence: The stairs coming from the main floor down to the programming space and the stairs leading up to the deck from the backyard did not have a gate in place that prevents access to children.
Plan of Correction: As you have seen, the gates were procured and were available at the facility during the inspection and now the gates are installed and this violation is corrected.
