Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on April 9, 2024 approximately 3:50 pm to 5:30 pm. There were 53 children directly supervised by 9 staff. The physical plant, 4 staff records, 5 children?s records, evacuation drills, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed participating in group play on color exploration, reading books, playing outside, resting and tummy time. There was an assortment of age appropriate materials for the children in care.

Standard 8VAC20-780-130-E
Based on children record review, 2 out 5 records, the center didn not obtain documentation of additional immunizations once every six months for children under the age of two years
Evidence:
1. Child #1 (date of enrollement 5/18/2023) did not have documentation of immunization once every six months for children under the age of two years at the time of inspection.
2. Child #2 (date of enrollment 1/18/2022) did not have documentation of immunization once every six months for children under the age of two years at the time of inspection
Plan of Correction: To set reminder for parents to update documentation of immunizations for students. Parents were asked to bring in a update documentation of immunization for file.
Standard 8VAC20-780-40-K
Based on observation, the center did not follow written procedures for safe sleep practices and and sudden infant death syndrome awareness.
Evidence:
1. In the Infants 1 classroom, a child had a sound machine in the crib while sleeping.
Plan of Correction: To do another training of safe sleep training for infants. To make sure teachers understand the safe practice of infants. Talked to teachers on why there should not be a sound machine in crib.
Standard 8VAC20-780-500-B
Based on observation, the center did not ensure nonabsorbent surface for diapering or changing were used.
Evidence:
1. In the Pre-Toddlers A classroom, the blue changing pad has two rips in the corner. Therefore the changing pad was not a nonabsorbent surface for diapering or changing.
Plan of Correction: To make sure teachers understand why the changing pads need ot make sure their in good condition no rips and tear.
