Inspector Notes

This inspection was conducted by staff using an alternative remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia. An on-site inspection of the center was not conducted at this time however, a portion of the inspection included a virtual component which allowed the inspector to observe the facility (indoor and outdoor).

An announced initial licensing inspection was conducted at 9:30am. This inspection is being conducted due to a change in ownership, and the inspection was conducted with the new owner and and Director of Operations. The inspection was conducted by phone, virtual observations, and an electronic review of records. Management demonstrated a good working knowledge of licensing regulations, and the Code of VA, as it applies to the operation of a child day center. There were 65 children + 14 staff present in the building during the inspection. Ratios and supervision were in compliance. Children were observed in individual learning activities, and circle time. Infants were being held, fed, and taking naps. Classrooms were well supplied with equipment and Montessori curriculum supplies. Medication management was in compliance. Staff are trained in First Aid, CPR, medication administration, and daily health observations, as required. The facility was clean and well maintained. Recordkeeping was in good order. Information gathered during the inspection determined there was one area of non-compliances with applicable standards or laws reviewed. Questions about this inspection may be directed to pamela.sneed@dss.virginia.gov

Note: A revised inspection report was issued on 4/7/21. The new license cannot be issued until owner background checks are completed.
