An unannounced renewal study was conducted from 1:15 pm - 2:30 pm. There were 11 children in care for a total of 26 points. The children were observed resting. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of four child records and two staff records were reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. If you have questions regarding this inspection you may contact Sharon Allen at 540-272-2941 or sharon.allen@doe.virginia.gov.

Violations

2
Standard 8VAC20-800-510-C
Based on observation of the nap room it was determined that occupied cribs did not always remain 12 inches from each other. Evidence: The LI (Licensing Inspector) observed 3 occupied cribs on the back wall of the nap room that were all touching each other, not the required 12 inches of separation.
Plan of Correction: The provider will ensure that occupied cribs are spaced at least 12 inches apart.
Standard 8VAC20-800-570-A
Based on observation it was determined that the provider failed to ensure that a caregiver does not exceed 16 points. Evidence: The provider was not present at the family day home from approximately 1:15 pm - 1:40 pm. The caregiver was alone, caring for 11 children ranging in ages of 6 months, 12 months, 2 years, 2 years, 2 years, 3 years, 3 years, 3 years, 4 years, 4 years, and 4 years for a total of 26 points.
Plan of Correction: The provider will not leave the caregiver alone with more than 16 points.
