Inspector Notes
A subsidy health and safety inspection (SHSI) was conducted in conjunction with the code compliance inspection. Subsidy standards that are not covered in code were reviewed during this SHSI.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

3Standard 8VAC20-790-560-A
Staff shall be evaluated by a health professional and be issued a statement that the individual is determined to be free of communicable tuberculosis (TB). Documentation of the screening shall be submitted at the time of employment and prior to coming into contact with children. The documentation shall have been completed within the last 30 calendar days of the date of employment and be signed by a physician, physician's designee, or an official of the local health department. The record for Staff #2 contained documentation of a TB screening that was dated six weeks prior to beginning employment.
Plan of Correction: Going forward we will ensure all new staff obtains the TB screening within the required timeframe.
Standard 8VAC20-790-640-A
Hazardous substances such as cleaning materials, insecticides, and pesticides shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. If a key is used, the key shall not be accessible to children. One container of sanitizing wipes was sitting on a shelf in a classroom. Children were observed present in the classroom.
Plan of Correction: Sanitizing wipes were moved to a locked location during the inspection.
Standard 8VAC20-790-790-B-4
The emergency preparedness plan shall contain procedural components for Staff training requirements, drill frequency, and plan review and update. The emergency preparedness plan indicated the emergency preparedness plan was reviewed in December 2022.
Plan of Correction: We will make sure the document with the date and signature every time the emergency preparedness plan is reviewed.
