Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 05/27/2022 from 9:43 am - 11:35 am. At the time of entrance there were 22 children in care ranging in age from 12 weeks - 2 years. The toddler class was observed during outdoor play, story time and lunch. Infants were observed napping, eating lunch and being held by staff . Floor play was additionally observed. Diaper changing and hand washing reviewed in both classrooms. Records reviewed for three children, two staff and one volunteer.
Violations were found in the areas of hand washing and special feeding needs. These violations are listed on the violation notice and were reviewed with administrative staff at the conclusion of the inspection.

Standard 8VAC20-780-500-A
Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that children's hands shall be washed with soap and running water after toileting.

Evidence:
1. Child 1, a young infant, hands were cleaned with a disposable wipe after a diaper change.
Plan of Correction: The child's hands were washed with soap and water after discussion with the inspector. Staff have received training on how to wash the hands of a young infant with soap and water at the handwashing sink.

Based on review, the center failed to ensure that prepared infant formula shall be dated.

Evidence:
None of the bottles of prepared infant formula were dated.
Plan of Correction: All bottles will be dated going forward.
