A subsidy health and safety inspection (SHSI) was conducted in conjunction with the monitoring inspection. Subsidy standards that are not covered in voluntary registration standards were reviewed during this SHSI.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Vendors shall maintain, and keep at the family day home, written or electronic information for each enrolled child, which shall be made available to the department's representative upon request. Two out of five records reviewed did not contain emergency contact address as required.

All flammable and combustible materials, including matches, lighters, lighter fluid, kerosene, turpentine, oil and grease products, aerosol cans, and alcohol, shall be stored in an area inaccessible to children. There was a plastic bottle of charcoal lighter fluid within reach of children near the backdoor which is used by children to access the outside play area.
