Inspector Notes

A monitoring inspection was initiated on 1/4/2023 and concluded on 1/4/2023. There were 28 children directly supervised by 6 staff members. Children were observed arriving to the program, engaged in group activities and outdoor play time. The physical plant, 3 child records, 6 new staff records, medications, evacuation drills, emergency supplies and policies were inspected. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Standard 8VAC20-780-240-B
Based on a review of new staff records, staff have not completed orientation training prior to the staff member working alone with children and no later than seven days of the date of assuming job responsibilities.
Evidence: staff # 2, date of employment 4/1/2022 and staff #1, #3, #4, #5 and #6, date of employment 9/6/2022 does not have documentation that staff have completed the orientation training.
Plan of Correction: Management will review the orientation with staff and complete the form for the staff's record.

Based on a review of the emergency evacuation drills, the center has not implemented monthly practice fire drills.
Evidence: Fire evacuation drills were not conducted the months of November and December 2022.
Plan of Correction: The center will implement monthly fire drills, 2 shelter in place drills every 6 months and 1 lock down drill a year, this will be documented on the Evacuation form.
