Inspector Notes

An Initial inspection was conducted today. There were 4 children present (10 points) with two caregivers. Children were observed playing with toys, transitioning to the outside, and playing outdoors. 3 adult/caregiver files were reviewed all were in compliance. 3 children's records were reviewed, see violation notice for missing information. First aid supplies, emergency supplies, rest cots, cribs, crib mattresses, emergency supplies, menu, bathroom supplies were all inspected.

Standard 22VAC40-111-350-E
Based on direct observation, hot water taps were not maintained within a range of 105 to 120 degrees.
Evidence:
The temperature registered at 122 degrees, and was continuing to rise, when checked with a thermometer.
Plan of Correction: I will adjust the temperature on the water heater.
Standard 22VAC40-111-530-I
Based on direct observation the mattresses in use are not covered with a waterproof material that can be cleaned and sanitized.
Evidence
2 of 2 mattresses, 1 of which is used daily, are covered with a soft material and are not waterproof.
Plan of Correction: A cover will be purchased for the mattresses.
Standard 22VAC40-111-70-A
Based on a review of records, children's records do not contain written documentation of the parent having received all policies and procedures before the first day of attendance.
Evidence:
3 of 4 records reviewed did not contain written acknowledgement whether or not there is liability insurance on the family day home. (Children #1,2,3)
Plan of Correction: I will have the parent sign the acknowledgement form as soon as possible.
Standard 22VAC40-111-770
Based on direct observation, the radio available for emergencies, is not a battery operated weather band radio.
Evidence:
The radio available is an AM/FM radio and not a weather band radio.
Plan of Correction: I will purchase a weather band radio as soon as possible.
