Inspector Notes

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews and a tour of the program.

A renewal inspection was initiated on February 9, 2022 and concluded on February 14, 2022. The director was contacted by telephone and on February 9, 2022 an in person inspection was conducted. There were 47 children present, ranging in ages from5 to 11, with 5 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 3 child records and 3 staff records were reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Based on review of 3 staff records and staff interviews, the licensee did not ensure the child day center obtained a copy of the results of a criminal history record information check, a sex offender registry check, and a search of the child abuse and neglect registry or equivalent registry from any state in which the individual has resided in the preceding five years. The child day center is to obtain complete data before reporting to the child day center.

Evidence: The record for staff #1, date of hire 9-20-2021 did not include the results of a sex offender check or a criminal records check for the state of California, where they had lived within the last 5 years. The sex offender check results are dated 12-21-2021 and the criminal records check results are dated 1-14-2022 and they were not conducted prior to employment as required.
Plan of Correction: Area Manager will ensue that all background checks are sent out prior to staffs first day to ensure they are returned in a timely manner.
