Inspector Notes

A subsidy health and safety (SHSI) inspection was initiated on June 27, 2024 and concluded on June 27, 2024. There were 88 children present with 18 staff supervising. A licensing inspection was also conducted on this date. Both inspections combined cover subsidy health and safety regulations. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards were reviewed during this supplemental inspection.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Based on review of staff records and interview, the center did not ensure that all staff who work directly with children have a current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification within 90 days of employment.

Evidence:
The records for staff #1 (employed: 1/29/24) and staff #7 (employed: 2/01/24) did not have current certification in CPR.
During interview, management acknowledged that staff #1 and staff #2 did not have current CPR certification.

Based on review of staff records and interview, the center did not ensure that all staff who work directly with children have a current first aid certification appropriate to the ages of children in care within 90 days of employment.

Based on a review of three staff records and interviews, the vendor did not ensure that staff who work directly with children completed the department's health and safety update course annually.

Evidence:
The records for staff #3 (employed: 9/06/23) and staff #10 (employed: 6/26/23) did not contain documentation of the most recent annual health and safety update training.
A member of management acknowledged staff #1 and staff #2 did not have documentation of required annual training.
