Inspector Notes
Conducted an unannounced renewal inspection at 10:22am. Observed 60 children + 19 direct-care staff. Ratios and supervision were in compliance. Children were observed reading books, having circle time, painting on canvas and going outside for walks. Infants were napping, behind held and playing with toys. Staff were actively engaged with the children and activities. Classrooms were found to be clean and well supplied with toys and equipment for the children. Areas of non-compliance with standards and laws reviewed were found. Questions about this inspection may be directed to pamela.sneed@doe.virginia.gov

Based on records reviewed, 1 of 6 staff records did not include a required background check completed within the 1st 30-days of employment. Evidence: The record for Staff #1 did not include an out-of-state child abuse + neglect search. Staff #1 began employment in September 2023.
Plan of Correction: Staff #1 has submitted an out-of-state child abuse and neglect search. All staff files will be reviewed for accuracy.
Standard 8VAC20-780-130-E
Based on records reviewed, 1 of 6 children's records did not include documentation of immunizations every 6 months until the age of 2 years old. Evidence: The immunizations on-file for Child #3 were dated April 2023 when the child was 7 months old.
Plan of Correction: Local admin team will regularly review immunization records to ensure files are in compliance. Families will be reminded to submit immunizations every six months until the age of 2. Immunization record for child #3 has been submitted by the family.
Standard 8VAC20-780-560-G
Based on observations made, food containers brought from home and belonging to a child were not labeled with the child's name and date. Evidence: The labeling of 2 food containers belonging to Child #1 did not include the date.
Plan of Correction: Teachers and families have been reminded of the policy to label all children's food brought from home with the child's name and date. The local admin team will do random checks to ensure policy is followed.
Standard 8VAC20-780-570-E
Based on observations made, bottles of infant formula did not have the required labeling of the child's name and date.
Evidence:
1. A bottle in the Toddler A classroom was found to not be labeled with the child's name and date.
2. A bottle in the Infant A classroom was found to not be labeled with the child's name and date.
Plan of Correction: Teachers and families have been reminded of policy to label all children's bottles with the child's name and date. The local administration team will do random checks to ensure policy is enforced.
