22.1 Early Childhood Care and Education

During the inspection, the inspector reviewed the areas listed above to include standards found out of compliance during the previous inspection. Unless otherwise noted as a violation within this inspection report, the program was in compliance with the standards reviewed. If there were any serious injuries or fatalities related to a violation, the details will be included in the description of the violation.

Inspector Notes

An unannounced, on-site monitoring inspection was conducted on 8/19/25. The on-site inspection began at 10:06am and ended at 1:00pm. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas listed above. There were 49 children present and 17 staff. The inspector reviewed 4 children?s records and 7 staff records while on-site. This inspection included document review, tour of the facility and interviews. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Please complete the plan of correction (POC) and date to be corrected sections for each violation cited on the violation notice. Specify how the violation will be or has been corrected. Submit your POC within five (5) business days from today, which will be the close of business on 8/26/25. A POC submitted after this date will not appear on the public website.

Standard 8VAC20-780-130-E
The center shall obtain documentation of additional immunizations once every 6 months for children under the age of 2 years.

The immunizations for Child #15 were dated as completed December 2024 when the child was 4 months old.
Plan of Correction: A plan has been established to ensure all children's records are complete and in compliance.
Standard 8VAC20-780-270-A
Areas and equipment of the center shall be maintained in a clean condition.

2 rugs in a toddler classroom were stained over the entire surface of the rug.
Plan of Correction: Rugs immediately removed. New rugs will be put in their place and have scheduled cleanings.
Standard 8VAC20-780-280-B
Hazardous substances such as cleaning materials shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.

A cleaning product was found in the diaper cream basket which is not kept in a locked place in one classroom.
Plan of Correction: Cleaning product removed at time of inspection. Staff will be retrained in this area.
Standard 8VAC20-780-440-J
There shall be at least 30" of space on the service sides of occupied cribs.

In one infant classroom, 2 occupied cribs did not have a minimum of 30" of clearance on the service side. 2 cribs were approximately 16" apart and were blocked by a 3rd occupied crib.
Plan of Correction: Cribs were adjusted at time of inspection-a new room arrangement has been complete ensuring cribs will always be a part.

Sunscreen shall be labeled with the child's name.

2 sunscreen products were found in classrooms without the child's name labeled on them.
Plan of Correction: Sunscreen products removed at time of inspection. Staff will be retrained on proper labeling.

2 diaper cream products were found in classrooms without the child's name labeled on them.
