Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today at 11:00am. There was 1 child directly supervised by 1 staff. The physical plant, 2 staff records, 1 child?s records, medications, evacuation drills, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. The child was observed playing with toys and books. There was an assortment of age appropriate materials for the children in care. The center was clean and organized. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice.

Based on observation, the findings of the most recent licensing inspection were not posted in a conspicuous place.
Evidence:
The acknowledgement form from the most recent licensing inspection was taped to the far side of a filing cabinet located behind the administrative desk. It was not visible to the public.

Based on observation, medication was not kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.
Evidence:
1. A bottle of acetaminophen a bottle of naproxen, cream antihistamine, and antibiotic cream were observed in an unlocked first aid kit.
2. Two epinephrine auto injector pens were observed in an unlocked cabinet in the administrative desk.

Based on a review of medication, medication was kept by the center for more than 14 days after the medication authorization form had expired.
Evidence:
On the date of inspection, an epinephrine auto injector was on site. The authorization for the medication expired at the end of the 20022-2023 Fairfax County Public Schools school year.
