Inspector Notes

An unannounced complaint inspection was conducted on 04/12/2023. Staff were interviewed, 3 staff records and documents were reviewed. There were 10 children, ages 19 months- 4 years, and 3 staff providing direct supervision present during the inspection. The inspector arrived for the inspection at 8:00 am and departed at 8:45 am.
Information gathered during the inspection did not support the complaint and therefore the complaint was determined to be not valid.
The information gathered during the inspection determined not compliance with applicable standards or law and violations unrelated to the complaint were issued.

Repeat Violation
Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that staff shall wash their hands with soap and water before and after a diaper change.
Evidence: Staff 1 was observed changing a child?s diaper. Staff 1 did not wash their hands after completing the diaper change.
Plan of Correction: Staff will wash hands before and after diapering.
Standard 8VAC20-780-80-A
Based on observation and discussion with staff, the center failed to ensure that for each group of children, the center shall maintain a written record of daily attendance that documents the arrival and departure of each child in care as it occurs.
Evidence: As of approximately 8:00 am on 04/12/2023, the daily attendance for the only group of children in care had not been taken. There was a total of 7 children in care. The daily attendance record did not document the arrival of each child as it occurred.
Plan of Correction: Staff will take attendance at time of arrival and departure.
