Inspector Notes

An unannounced, on-site renewal inspection was initiated and completed on 08/19/2024, as a part of the licensure period. The on-site inspection began at 10:30am and ended at 1pm. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas listed above. There were 85 children present and 18 staff. The inspector reviewed 5 children?s records and 7 staff records on-site. This inspection included document review, tour of the center, staff interviews and observations.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Please complete the plan of correction (POC) and date to be corrected sections for each violation cited on the violation notice. Specify how the deficient practice will be or has been corrected. Submit your POC within five (5) business days from today, which will be the close of business on 08/26/2024. A POC submitted after this date will not appear on the public website.

Standard 8VAC20-780-360-A
Based on observation of one classroom, an activity was not stage appropriate for children.
Evidence:
1. The Panda classroom have children under the age of 2 years.
2. A sensory table with kinetic sand was accessible to children
3. One child was observed attempting to put the kinetic sand in their mouths.
Plan of Correction: The sand was removed from the classroom immediately and will only be used with ages 3+. The child did not eat the sand as a staff member intervened.

Based on observation of one classroom, staff did not sit with children during meal times.
Evidence:
Staff were observed setting cots up for naptime as children were eating their lunches.
Plan of Correction: Faculty were re-trained on the ?one up, one down? method and given assistance with lunch time transitions. A faculty member will sit with students at lunch.
