Inspector Notes

An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on 8/17/22 from 10:00am - 11:45am. During the inspection there were 41 children ages seven months old through ten years old in care with 15 staff. Children were observed participating in various activities in the classrooms, playing outside, and eating lunch. Records were reviewed for six children and five staff during the inspection. Medication, emergency procedures and emergency supplies were reviewed during the inspection. Information gathered during the inspection determined noncompliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program, and were discussed during the exit interview.

Based on observation, it was determined that the facility did not ensure that all hazardous substances such as cleaning materials, insecticides, and pesticides shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.

Evidence:
1. There was a can of disinfectant spray sitting on the top of the toilet in the bathroom located in the main lobby area.
2. Staff #6 (program Director) confirmed there were hazardous substances present that were not kept in a locked place.
Plan of Correction: The facility responded: The disinfectant spray was removed from the bathroom and placed in a locked closet. All cleaning supplies will be kept in a locked location.

Based on interviews, it was determined that the licensee did not ensure that personal items are individually assigned.

Evidence:
1. The bottles that the children used for water were not labeled with their name.
2. Staff #6 (Program Director) confirmed that the bottles the children were using to drink water were not individually assigned.
Plan of Correction: The facility responded: All water bottles that the children use will be labeled with their names.
