Inspector Notes
An unannounced, on-site monitoring inspection was initiated and completed on August 16,2024. The on-site inspection began at 10:30am and ended at 1:15pm. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas listed above. There were 56 children present and13 staff. The inspector reviewed 6 children?s records and 5 staff records. This inspection included document review, tour of the facility, interviews, and observations. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program.
Standard 8VAC20-770-60-C-2
The center must obtain the results of a central registry search within 30th day of employment. Staff #1, Staff #2, and Staff #3 did not have the results of their central registry search and were present at the center working with children during the time of the inspection.
Plan of Correction: The center responded with the following: The staff members without CRS checks were re-requested and the confirmation emails of the requests were sent to the licensing inspector. Once the central registry results are obtained, they will be sent to the inspector and a copy will be placed in the staff member's physical record.
Standard 8VAC20-780-270-A
Areas and equipment of the center, inside and outside, shall be maintained in a safe and operable condition. In the infant classroom, four of the cribs were observed to have very loose-fitting crib sheets which poses as a suffocation and injury hazard.
Plan of Correction: The center responded with the following: Elastic crib straps have been purchased and were in the facility but not being used on the crib sheets. During the inspection, the staff members put the crib straps to the bottom of the mattress so that the crib sheets were secure and taunt.
Standard 8VAC20-780-570-A
When a child is placed in a high chair, the protective belt shall be fastened securely. Two infant children were eating breakfast at the feeding table without protective belts fastened securely.
Plan of Correction: The center responded with the following: The center fastened the children's safety protective belts during the inspection and added an additional strap to one of the feeding chairs. Staff will be reminded and retrained of the standard 570-A and when children are fed, they are securely strapped.
