Standard 8VAC20-780-270-A
Repeat Violation. Areas and equipment of the center, inside and outside, shall be maintained in a safe and operable condition. In the older infant room and the indoor gym area, the carpet was shredding posing as a tripping hazard for children in care.
Plan of Correction: The center responded with the following: The staff will cut the excess carpet threads and place strong tape on areas of the carpet to reinforce it. Staff will routinely examine the carpet and trim threads when needed.
Standard 8VAC20-780-560-F-4
When centers choose to provide meals or snacks, children three years of age or younger may not be offered foods that are considered to be potential choking hazards. The children in the 2 year old classroom were eating corndogs and we cut in half.
Plan of Correction: The center responded with the following: The teachers immediately cut and broke up the corndogs into smaller pieces while the children were eating. Moving forward, teachers and staff will ensure that such foods that present as a choking hazards will be cut up to smaller pieces.
