Inspector Notes

An initial inspection for licensure was conducted on 6/13/2022. The provider does not currently have any children in care, but plans to open for care later this summer. The Inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administrative record keeping, emergency preparedness, background checks, nutrition, and the physical plant.

Standard 8VAC20-800-240-A
Based on observations, it was determined the provider has not maintained all furnishings in operable condition.
Evidence: The high chair that the provider intends to use for infants and young children does not have a tray.
Plan of Correction: I will buy a new high chair before children enter car.
Standard 8VAC20-800-250-A
Based on observations, it was determined that hanging items have not been kept out of the reach of children under five years of age.
Evidence:
The crib that will be used by infants and toddlers has been placed in front of windows that are covered with blinds. The cord for the blinds hangs down directly next to the crib.
Plan of Correction: I will either cut off the curtain cords or I will move the crib before children enter care.
Standard 8VAC20-800-480-C
Based on observations, it was determined the provider does not have an adequate variety of materials and equipment.
Evidence:
The provider does not have music and sound materials nor multi-cultural toys available to the children.
Plan of Correction: I will add some music instruments and a variety of multi-cultural items to the supply of toys before children enter care.
Standard 8VAC20-800-760-A-1
Based on a review of emergency preparedness items, it was determined that the first aid kit does not contain all required items.
Evidence:
The first aid kit does not include at least two triangular bandages.
Plan of Correction: I will buy a second triangular bandage before children enter care.
Standard 8VAC20-800-770
Based on a review of emergency preparedness items, it was determined that the provider does not have an emergency radio as required.
Evidence:
The provider has a radio, but it is not a weather band radio.
Plan of Correction: I will buy the correct radio before children enter care.
