An announced initial inspection was conducted on July 28, 2022 from 11:10am to 12:15pm. The applicant intends to operate a family day home for up to 6 children, ranging in age from 1 years old to 9 years. At the time of entrance, there were 4 children in care, for a total of 7 points, with the provider. Also present were two Norfolk Department of Social Services coaches for the provider. Children were observed participating in learning activities and engaging in free play. Hand washing and restroom procedures were also observed. The entire home, to include areas where children will be cared for, bathroom facilities, kitchen and the outside play area were inspected. First aid and emergency supplies, documentation of emergency practice drills, the emergency preparedness plan and required postings were reviewed. The transportation van was observed. There were no violations identified during the inspection. A six month conditional license is recommended to allow the applicant the opportunity to demonstrate continued compliance with the Standards for Licensed Family Day Homes. All future inspections will be unannounced. The first unannounced inspection will be conducted within 60 days from the date the license is issued.
